The Large Mermaid of Budapest
She was beautiful and incredibly large. I found her floating effortlessly in the right-sided pool, its waters precisely heated to 40ºC, within the storied walls of the Gellért Baths in Budapest. A spa filled with a century of Art Nouveau ghosts.
I knew nothing about her, and she had no reason to acknowledge my presence. Yet, I couldn’t ignore the visual feast unfolding before me.
She was young, no more than 25, perhaps 27. Her small black bikini clung to her curves like it was nothing. A jovial woman of immense proportions. She was tall—very tall—with skin as pale as milk. The tallest, palest, and most voluptuous woman I had seen in Hungary.
Suspended above the mineral-rich waters in that dark sanctuary, she remained surrounded by intricate mosaics, marble columns, and colorful stained glass.
Despite her size, she seemed utterly weightless—her body and spirit clean. She appeared untouched by worry as if the world's troubles were distant, unimportant things.
I couldn’t bring myself to move. From my perch beside the 36ºC pool, I watched, mesmerized, wondering how someone so grounded in physical presence could exude such an ethereal lightness. She was serene, otherworldly, beautiful beyond measure.
Suddenly, I found myself sharing the same tank. Watching from a safe distance, but closer than ever.
From the water, I could see only her face, her smooth belly, and a pair of majestic massive breasts, fighting a losing battle against the tight black top or the semi-microscopic black bikini.
And then, it happened. Her eyes opened, and she gracefully unfolded herself from her rest. She swam to the five steps guiding out and slowly left our new world.
Still unaware of my existence, she walked away.
And I never saw her again—the beautiful, large mermaid of Budapest. Forever in my memory.
PS: I am on my way to Croatia. Have you been? I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Hopefully, 25 will be more filled with Cabra Mails.
